A typical flight between Baltimore, MD and Kansas City, MO would have a flying time of about 1 hours, 56 minutes. This assumes an average air speed for a commercial airliner of 500 mph, which is equivalent to 805 km/hr or 434 knots. Your exact flight time may vary depending on wind speeds. Have fun on your Trip! ~Annalise

According to FlightAware.com, the flight time to Kansas City (20 minutes outside the border of Kansas) is 2 hours and 22 minutes.

Flight arrangment /booking question

Flight arrangment /booking question?
ok ive never flown before or even arranged a flight just out of curiousty suppose some one flys round-trip12/23/07 from san diego to baltimore, MD but when in maryland has another pesron under 12(my kid nephew) and fly to new orleans both together, and leaves dec30th back to maryland , and then flys out by yourself to san diego, just a rough estimate on lets say southwest or northwest round trip, would you caculate all this on round trip...is that all together? or do i also have to caculate in the price flight when leaving from Baltimore,MD to get to New orleans, and then leaving out from new orleans back to Baltimore? or when booking round-trip flight does that all innclude with the leaving from san diego to get to maryland, and then from maryland to orleans..... and then on return leaving orleans to go to maryland and then finally back to san diego, iam confused!

I am confused by your question! but the good thing is that Southwest one-way prices are not sky-high compared to roundtrip, like most airlines are.
2 :
Do San Diego to Baltimore and return as one round trip and price it as one trip. Do the BWI to New Orleans and return as another trip. This way you can spend time in Baltimore coming and going if you want.
3 :
wow my head is spinning from reading your question see a travel agent
4 :
If you never book airline tickets before, DO NOT DO IT ON LINE nor yourself. It may cost you a lot more than you think if you make a mistake.Once you give your credsit card...that's it. No way back. I heard a lot of complaining after booking your own flight and cannot change date, names etc...etc... Go to a reputable travel agency in San Diego, and they may have a good deal as well. But 12/23 is one of the busiest travel time of the year, I doubt you will be able to find any seats.

flying from Washington dc, Baltimore to Fairbanks Alaska

flying from Washington dc, Baltimore to Fairbanks Alaska?

Try http://www.expedia.com That should solve your problem. Ian
2 :
The best is rarely the cheapest, you know. The fastest and easiest is to fly on Alaska from National to Seattle, and change there for Fairbanks. The cheapest appears to be a multi-hop flight from Dulles to Seattle to Anchorage on United and Continental, then a commuter flight to Fairbanks. Despite what the ads might say, all jet flights in the US are about equally uncomfortable and annoying. Commuter flights on propeller planes are somewhat louder and less comfortable, but not horribly so. You will definitely get a better fare if you don't wait until the last minute to buy your tickets.

Baltimore - Boston

Baltimore - Boston?
If I drive, how long from Baltimore to Boston; If I take flight, how long from Baltimore to Boston?
Boston - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Driving takes about 8-10 hrs. Go Airtran.. $39 each way out of BWI. I fly up to Boston all the time for the hell of it....
2 :
Julian is correct on the 8-10 hours. Its about 4 from Balt to NYC then another 4 to Boston. Traffic on 95 can sometimes be brutal going through Ct. Flight cost vary. Check rates on line
3 :
I've done it in about 9 hours down leaving early enough in the AM to miss traffic in Boston and Hartford. I did 12 hours back but we got hit with major road maintenance traffic in PA and at Hartford around midnight. (And I think we stopped an hour for dinner.) Even with the 9 hours, we got lost around Scranton, PA. (Thanks to bad directions trying to leave.) So it wasn't bad time at all. Fastest up or down will to be to avoid NYC and Beltway traffic. We went around NYC both times, got stuck on the Beltway coming back. If you time it right and don't get lost, then it could be 8 or 9 hours with minimal traffic. If you hit a lot of traffic then it can be about 12. Average is about 10 hours with normal traffic. Flights will vary. Airtran is around 40 each way if you book ahead, unless you book immediately and have discounts then it will be slightly more. Regardless of the airline, for a cheap flight you will probably be paying around 50-80 each way if you book now to leave immediately. I would advise to look at websites and compare. I've found American flights round trip to BWI that were in the same ballpark. If you really want to get the best deal for an immediate flight then you might want to consider flying into Manchester-Boston or TF Green on Southwest, and communting to Boston. If it is for a good amount to time ahead, the sooner you book the cheaper it gets and you'll find a cheap flight from BWI directly into Logan(BOS). BWI into Logan is about an hour flight give or take with no major delays. Last four times I took flights to and from it was about 45 minutes in the air and about 5 or 10 on the runways and at the gates. So it is about an hour and 15 minutes at the max.
4 :
It depends when you leave but it will take at least 8 hours to drive. Flying will take under 2 hours.
5 :
Driving for 8-12 hours is about right, depending on traffic / time of day. If you fly, I think the biggest determinant is where you are staying. If you are staying in or close to Boston, you are probably better off going to Logan. If you are staying outside of Boston , you may want to consider Providence or Manchester. You can fly for $39 on Southwest, and there are many flights per day. Also, you will find cheaper ground transportation once you get there, and less traffic congestion. of course, if you are going into Boston and want to save money on ground transportation, you can always take the subway from Logan. You can learn about that on MBTA.com. Look for the Blue line, as that's the line that goes to Logan. Allow plenty of time though, it can be very slow. Again, flights are about 90 minutes, regardless of the airport you choose.

I bought an airline ticket from Houston to Baltimore, what does this mean for fare rules

I bought an airline ticket from Houston to Baltimore, what does this mean for fare rules?
"Fare Rule(s) Valid only on Southwest Airlines. NON REFUNDABLE/ STANDBY REQ UPGRADE TO YL All travel involving funds from this Confirm no. must be completed by 05/08/09. Any change to this itinerary may result in a fare increase." Does this mean I may not get the flight unless someone else doesn't go? and if I don't get the flight, will I end up not paying?
Air Travel - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It means 1. the ticket is non refundable. 2. if you want to stand by for another flight at the airport, you will have to upgrade your ticket to a Y or L class. 3. you have one year to use the value (funds) on this ticket (either fly, or apply value to another purchase). if you don't, the value is gone May 2009. It means you are confirmed on the flight.

How can I convince my grandma? ANSWER ASAP

How can I convince my grandma? ANSWER ASAP?
I'm going on a flight to Baltimore on Wensday and I want to take my cat with me, my mother has offered to send my grandma money to pay for the cats shots and cat carrier but, my grandmother still refuses to let me take my cat. Please answer ASAP I'm 14. And I'm fly from my grandma's house to my mom's house
Family - 3 Answers

1 :
It would help if I knew how old you were. I would talk to your grandma and ask her why not. Maybe she has a good reason behind it. One way that may work is to tell her you want to take the cat to prove you are responsible. To show that she can trust you. And to show more of your own independence.
2 :
First, be certain your grandmother or anyone else in her household isn't allergic to cats. She might have friends or other relatives who visit her occasionally who also may be allergic to cat dander. Second, show her you have worked out all the details and thought of all the possible problems and have solutions for them all. Third, find out what are the airline's regulations (I do know your cat MUST have ALL shots in order to fly and there are stringent requirements for carriers) and fees for flying with your cat. Third, find out what are the risks to your cat of flying. When you know all that, you'll be armed with information to allay whatever fears your grandmother might have for and/or about your cat. Perhaps your grandmother has these kinds of concerns: Is the cat litter-box trained? Will there be an unpleasant smell? What kind of litter-box situation will grandma be required to provide? Does she have the means and space to provide it? Is your cat long or short haired? Is your grandma fussy about cat hair all over her furniture and/or clothes? Is your cat prone to hairball regurgitation? Your grandma may be wondering if your cat is an indoor cat or an outdoor cat. If it's an indoor cat, will grandma think it'll be under foot all the time? Will it caterwaul through the house late at night when she's trying to sleep? Could she be worried that your cat has fleas? What kind of outdoor situation would your cat face? City streets and traffic? Rural or suburban areas with predators prowling around looking for a tasty meal? Might it bring back into the house ticks or other insect pests? Cats usually eat many small meals throughout the day. Who will keep its food and water bowls full and clean? Who will pay for the food? What if the cat gets sick? Can you find out the nearest veterinarian to your grandmother's house? Who will have to deal with a sick cat going to the vets, you or your grandmother? Cats pretty much like an unchanging and familiar daily routine. How adaptable is your cat to new environments? W Would taking it out of its home environment, putting it through the trauma of an airplane ride and then being thrust into a whole new home and set of humans be something your cat can easily tolerate? Will it get homesick? Will it be locked up in its carrier all day and night? Also, ask yourself if this trip is in the best interests of your cat. Your cat won't know this is a temporary arrangement. Good luck. Holy mackerel! This is a whole different thing. All answerers here (including me) read your question as if you were flying from your mother's to your grandma's. Is this a permanent move? Are you going to be living with your mom, now? Either way, your grandma knows something of the concerns the answers here have written about. Flying is REALLY difficult for a cat. It isn't in the best interests of the cat. And if you're flying round trip, it's doubly hard on a cat. If you're making a permanent change of residence, then I understand you wanting to take your pet with you. If not, leave the poor kitty with grandma. You (and especially the cat) will be the better for it. Your grandma knows best.
3 :
You can't. She has her reasons. I know I hate it when family members visit and bring their pets. The pets are in totally unfamiliar surroundings and their bodies are affected by the traveling. So they end up making messes they would not normally make at home. And it is gross. I do not have pets inside for a reason. Whether they clean up the mess or not, it goes through to the carpet pad and will always be there. It is rude. Then there is the pet hair. I do not want to have pet hair on my couches or clothing or anywhere. But even if those are not her reasons, she doesn't need a reason. It is her home, her rules. And if you do not like them you can stay home. And, it really is not in your car's best interest. Travel is hard on pets. So is the change in routine and environment. If you love your pet you do not want to put it through unnecessary stress. Leave it at home where it can be itself.

Is 1hr30 min connection time enough to make sure my checked bags get transferred onto my international flight

Is 1hr30 min connection time enough to make sure my checked bags get transferred onto my international flight?
I'm traveling from Baltimore to Managua, Nicaragua (on American Airlines), with a connection in Miami. I have an hour and a half between my arrival in Miami and my flight to Managua. Will this be enough time for my checked bags to get transferred to my flight to Managua?
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It willbe as long s your flight is booked as a connecting flight and you check in at Baltimore all the way through to Managua. If the flights are separate and you have to check in again at Miami, then it will not be enough as you normally have to checkin at least 3 hours before an international flight. I once made a connection to London from Portland via WashingtonDC and my plane from Portland was late and landed 10 minutes before the London flight was due to take off. I had to run (luckily only 2 gates) to the connecting flight, was the last person on board and they literally closed the door as I stepped on board and my bag somehow made it too!
2 :
My husband and I travel alot. Quite often, we had less time than an hour and a half.between flights. Many times, we were sitting on the plane and watched as the luggage was being loaded. I don't know how they do it, but the airlines do. Don't get me wrong, many times your luggage winds up somewhere else. We had our share of that too. More often than not, your bags go with you. Have a great trip.
3 :
It will be quite hard to manage. If there is a 5, 15 min. delay... you really have to run, and it depends how far is the distance between the two gates. It is a 50-50 chance based on my experience.
4 :
I had an international connection that I flew 6-7 times a year for seven years, on the way back home I had 40 minutes between the time I landed and the time to catch my connecting flight, each time I had checked luggage and not one time did my luggage not make it to my connecting flight. 1hr. 30min. should be plenty of time to transfer your luggage. Anyway you look at it, there's plenty of time to either transfer or lose your luggage.

(1) Take Metro B-30 bus to Greenbelt Metro Station - $3.00 (2) Take Green line subway to Ft. Totten (3) Transfer to the Red Line subway going to Shady Grove. (4) Exit at Tenleytown - AU station - $3.90 during rush hour and $2.35 all other times. Total cost - $5.35 or $6.90 - may take you 2 hours to get there but you'll save a lot of money this way.

How easy is it to take a train to Baltimore BWI airport

How easy is it to take a train to Baltimore BWI airport?
I have a super early flight on a monday morning out of BWI airport. I will be in Washington DC and might need to take the train to the airport. How close is the BWI trainstation to the gate that Southwest flys out of? Does it drop you off at the terminals or do you have to take a bus from the train station. Basically, how long does it take to get from the BWI station to the Southwest gates?
Air Travel - 2 Answers

From the BWI train station, there are shuttle buses that go to the Southwest terminal. I've only done it once but it only took a few minutes to get from the train station to the airport terminal. The shuttles are free and they left within a couple minutes of when I got off the train.
2 :
The Shuttle buses from the BWI Train Station operate every 5-10 minutes after 5 AM until 1 AM. The trip takes about 10 minutes depending on lights and traffic.

How can I get to Baltimore from New york

How can I get to Baltimore from New york?
hello y'all Since there are no (international) direct flights available to Baltimore. I thought I could come to NY and then take a bus from NY to Baltimore. So once I landed to JFK, then what should I do? Where should I go? Which is the easiest way to catch a bus NY to Baltimore? I'll really aprreciate for any suggestions. I found this. Am I wrong or this is the easiest way? http://www.nyairportservice.com/page.php?id=31 JFK to Penn Station (only 15$) then Penn Station to Baltimore and by the way can you tell me what's the difference between Penn Station and Port Authority? Can i get a buss from both location?
New York City - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You are better off flying or renting a car. It will take you an hour to get from JFK to Penn Station, take the air tram to the subway. Take the F train to 34th street and walk it to Penn Station. Or hop in a $45 cab. Once you are at Penn Station you can board your bus to Baltimore. Buy your ticket here: gotobus.com, about $20 a ticket one way. If all the times work out for you, it's going to be an extra 5 hours to your trip.
2 :
If you want to take a bus to Baltimore from New York City, you can take BoltBus from New York City to Baltimore. The one way fare from New York City to Baltimore is only $23 and the trip take about three and a half hours. Bolt Bus operates out of New York's Penn Station, which is located in Midtown, Manhattan. The best way to get from JFK Airport to Penn Station by public transit. From JFK, take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station, where a connection can be made to the Long Island Railroad, which is a commuter rail simular to MARC Commuter Rail. Take any eastbound LIRR train from Jamaica Station to Penn Station. The trip take about 20 to 25 minutes and the one way off peak fare will cost you $5.75. If you're arriving on the weekends, you can purchase a CityTicket for $3.50. Once in the city, exit the train station and walk to the corner of 7th Avenue and 33rd Street, where you can catch the BoltBus to Baltimore. Alternatively, you can also take Amtrak, from Penn Station in New York City to Baltimore. The one way fare range in price from $67 to $216, depending on the train and the time a day you're traveling. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck Native New Yorker
3 :
I take Amtrak back and forth from BWI to NYC Penn Station. It's $67 for a 1 way ticket but it lets you out right in the heart of the city where you have the subways accessable. It's a 3 hour train ride.

I would look around on sites like Expedia and Travelocity. If you happen to catch them at the right time, you can get one heck of a deal. It doesn't hurt to go to a particular Airline's website and see what they have to offer. Finally, you might also want to check with a Travel Agent. He/She might be able to put together an affordable package for you and your family. There are plenty of options--now go do your homework.
2 :
If you can book by next week and travel by 6/14, you can get the lowest rates with Hawaiian..from PHX to HNL its $299 round trip! Thats $150.00 per person each way! The last time I went, it was almost $1500 total for flights. I'm jumping on this one.
3 :
If you drive/fly to Newark you can pick up an 11 hour direct flight to Honolulu, which would probably get you the best deal. However, flying with children, I might recommend flying through LAX
4 :
Go to Kayak.com It Compares prices of plane tickets (cheap ones) from all different websites. It also does the same for hotels and what not, it was a great help for me when it came to planning my trip for Hawaii upcoming in Aug. I'm so Excited =]!

For a family with sick child and siblings flying into New York what is best way to get to hospital Baltimore

For a family with sick child and siblings flying into New York what is best way to get to hospital Baltimore?
Flying from Australia, Qantas providing great support and child able to lie down on long flight but parents are concerned how to get from New York airport to John Hopkins and after operation and lengthy treatment must make return journey back to New York for flight home with child needing 4 hourly care - mother a nurse so can provide the medical care. Family of 5 travelling. Are there any air connections? Are they from JFK? By car how far and approx. how long? Any idea of cost of paying for car and driver if no flights?

Qantas does not operate nonstop flights to New York from Australia. None of the airlines do. All flights stop in Los Angeles or San Francisco. Once in California you clear customs and immigration, and then either re-board the same aircraft or connect to another flight altogether to travel to the east cost. Thus... I recommend connecting to a nonstop flight to Baltimore (BWI) from California (do not go to New York). Most Australia-US flights go to Los Angeles. Qantas has nonstops from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. I would book one of these. From Los Angeles both United Airlines and Southwest Airlines offer nonstop service to Baltimore (BWI). When choosing between the two... keep in mind that Southwest is a "discount" airline that does not provide as many amenities (such as assigned seating and meals). American, Delta, Continental, Northwest, and others all serve this route with one-stop service. Please note: Baltimore is a large city with a population of 2.5 million. That makes it bigger than both Perth and Brisbane! It has an international airport. Don't confuse the city as a suburb of New York. If, for whatever reason, you still need to go through New York... there are a FEW commuter flights that operate JFK-BWI, but no "regular jet" flights. They operate only at certain periods of the day and, if you miss the connection, might be hard to rebook. If you drive... hiring a car to take you three states away would be very hard to arrange and very expensive, if not impossible. If you rented a car you would have a 300+ km trip through Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, New Jersey, around Philadelphia, and through Delaware to get into Maryland... all on the right hand side of the road after a very long flight. All of these options would be more expensive than flying into Baltimore directly from California. If you are committed to New York, let me know and I can help you with more details (flights, driving directions, etc). I suggest contacting Johns Hopkins directly. I believe that they are used to these kinds of questions and would be happy to help. They might have some non-commercial options available for you. I wish you good luck. Johns Hopkins is very highly regarded and I'm proud to say that my paternal grandfather is an alumni. Also, if you would like to talk privately please feel free to email me: goshawk3000@yahoo.com.

I looked into this . It's about 200 miles from JFK to Johns Hopkins Hospital In Baltimore. Realistically speaking it will take you anywhere from 3.5 to 5 hours to make that trip. The difference in time is due to what time you arrive at JFK and what the weather is going to be like. If it's raining it will really slow you down. Basically the East Coast of the US from Washington DC to Boston Massachusetts along interstate 95 is one continuous 500 mile long city, so you will always be driving in traffic Ideally you would arrive JFK between 9-11am or 5:30 pm and later to avoid the traffic. The big rental car companies will get you mini van for about $150 USD per day based upon a one way rental of picking the vehicle up at JFK and dropping it off at Baltimore Washington International Airport BWI. This strategy makes sense because JFK has some of the most expensive car rentals in the US and it would be lot cheaper to rent another car at BWI. BWI is located 13 miles from the hospital There are toll roads and bridges on the east coast . The drive down to Baltimore will cost you about $25.00 in tolls and $30.00 in gas Just wondering if Quantas could get you into Dulles [IAD ] instead of JFK because it would save you 140 miles of driving Good Luck I just read Goshawks post Do not fly Southwest coast to coast, fly United instead Southwest will use a 737 for a 3000 mile trip -bad idea. I just checked the United schedule and almost all of their direct flights to BWI originate in San Francisco[SFO] rather than LAX If Quantas can get you to SFO non stop then it makes your life that much easier BTW Could somebody explain the "thumbs down" I just got ? All of the above is true.
5 :
There is train service (Amtrac) between NY and Baltimore, hourly. You'd have to get to Penn Station from JFK. There is bus service available. Also, there is commuter air service from JFK to Baltimore (BWI) check American or Delta Airlines. By car, you're talking about 250 plus miles, and the traffic is incredible. \I wish your trip to America was under .better circumstances. Johns Hopkinsis an EXCELLENT hospital.

Best way for tourists to get to Baltimore, Maryland from JFK Airport

Best way for tourists to get to Baltimore, Maryland from JFK Airport?

fly, train, bus or walk. Come on.

train or bus or rent a car and drive.
3 :
Acella (AMTRAK's) high speed train NYC to DC, then AMTRAK to Baltimore It's a good trip. Have a ball
4 :
there is nothing special to see on the Way from NYC to Baltimore better to fly
5 :
hey b-more aka bodymore.
6 :
You would need to get into midtown Manhattan either by the subway connection (low-cost) or by a cab (expensive). From Penn Station you would take any of the Amtrak-operated trains that head to Washington, DC by way of Baltimore. Here's a link to the Amtrak website: http://www.amtrak.com Unless you're wealthy or on an expense account, avoid Amtrak's extra-cost Acela Express and choose instead one of their Northeast Regional trains. The trip will still take only about 2.5 hours on a modern, comfortable train. And there actually is some interesting scenery to see--the industrial part of New Jersey, and the inlets and rivers in Maryland.
7 :
train or bus. or you could just fly into BWI instead
8 :
I would suggest the train. I find the train ride to and from New York City interesting, BUT take my advice depending on what time your train arrives at the station, I would have a ride waiting for me. Penn Station loses some of its charm after sunset, especially for tourists. o another thing, i hope you aren't looking for picturesque scenes of urban/decaying-industrial-city life. The south bound train ride into Baltimore provides me with some of the most depressing/worth it (to me) scenes. Imagine seeing anywhere from 50-100 blocks straight of vacant houses. All of them abandonded, no hopes of being occupied.
9 :
To travel by train from JFK, you should take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station, then the Long Island train to Penn Station NY, and there take the Amtrak train to Baltimore this will cost you around $220-250 or the Apex Bus(cheapest option-$50) from Penn Station NY. Flight from JFK to Baltimore international(BWI) will cost you $245. Another option is rent a car one way from JFK to Baltimore for $50-80

Do you know any cheap flights for 16 members from Cali to Baltimore

Any airline that have good crew, nice attitude, no extra charge for baggages..etc you guys tell me what they have California* to Baltimore
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If baggage charges are a necessary criteria for choosing an airline for your flight, then you will have exactly two options -- Southwest (who does not charge for the first two checked bags per passenger) and JetBlue (who does not charge for the first checked bag per passenger). Of these two airlines, you'll need to see whether they serve the airports you're looking to fly from in California -- both of these airlines have service between California and the Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), but both of these airlines don't serve every airport in the state, either.
2 :
from calii columbia, south america you will need a visa, and passport to enter the US and you probably will have to change planes in dallas or miami i would check with the US consulate or embassy if they even have one in columbia
3 :
Best airline would be Southwest, the have crew is always polite, nice attitude, and each passenger gets 2 free bags, and one carry on item. They always have special low prices.
4 :
Southwest would be your best bet since they have a lot of flights into and out of Baltimore and allow the first 2 pieces of checked bags for free. I like JetBlue even though only the first checked bag flies for free because they have satellite TV and all you can eat snacks.

Would you drive 400 miles so the entire family can fly to Florida on one flight

Would you drive 400 miles so the entire family can fly to Florida on one flight?
Our extended family all met in Florida over the long Christmas Holiday Weekend. The unoffical leader in the family insisted that everyone drive to one central city so each of us could be on one flight. So some of the extended family had to drive 400 miles to Baltimore, even though they could fly to Orlando for less than their hometown Airport. When people complained that this was illogical and a waste of time, the family leader said that it was rude to expect everyone to fly in from different cities. What is the polite and logical thing to do?
Etiquette - 18 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
yes because gas is cheap
2 :
Just do what they say. Once it all happens, the person who had the idea will realize that it was a waste of time and will think twice next time about planning something that important.
3 :
You will never please all of them...the logical thing to do is what is easiest for you....dont mean to souind selfish but whatever you do someone will have something to say thats negative
4 :
This unofficial leader sounds like a jerk. Why would anyone listen to him? Do it the way that's more convenient & least expensive for you & screw what he says.
5 :
No, it was just plain stupid. This "leader" is an idiot. It's better to fly on separate flights anyway, because if the one flight everyone was one went down the entire family would be killed. This "leader" may one day win a Darwin Award for his stupid thinking.
6 :
Were the tickets gifts? All I can think of is that the people in FLA were concerned about how many trips they would have to take to the airport to pick up the various groups. You can always turn down travel plans like this, and make your own your own way if you want to go. That drive was excessive to say the least. The gas you all spent was probably more than the cost of having you shuttled to their home and picked up. Too late now. Its one of the wtf memories now.
7 :
the gas now it would be smarter to fly
8 :
I think its more rude, especially in this economy, to expect someone to pay more for a flight and gas... not to mention taking more time off of work and having to drive a really long way (out of the way). The only true way to counterbalance this is for the family leader to pay for the more expensive ticket and compensate for gas. If they refuse to do that, then oh well. Maybe you should try having two departure points, so that two smaller groups of the family can fly together and meet up at the destination.
9 :
it is just as rude to ask everyone to compromise --live isn,t a perfect scenario
10 :
The most polite and logical thing to do is let everyone fly from their home city. First of all it's rude to expect everyone to pay the gas money on top of the flight to even get to the airport. Second, that is an extreme waste of time and a flight from baltimore to florida is about a 2.5 hour flight which is not a very long time to "socialize" especially on an airplane so that defeats the whole point anyway.
11 :
To drive 400 miles because some pumped up little dictator said that you should is highly stupid. Nothing could be better than to turn up at an airport exhausted and edgy after driving 400 miles. Just plain dumb.
12 :
I wouldn't, no, go the way you want to go. No one has the right to tell you how to get there, that's ridiculous.
13 :
You should always do what is best for you unless they are paying for your trip. That seems very illogical to me.I can assure I would never drive 400 miles to catch a flight then have to pay for a car park too.
14 :
I would not drive 400 miles to pay a more expensive plane fare unless there was a much better reason than the one your 'leader' offered. If some disabled person needed my assistance, or I was needed for something else in Baltimore before the flight, that might be different. If the problem is a person in Orlando having to make several trips to the airport to pick people up from different flights...well, I'm sure Orlando has taxicabs, hotel shuttle buses, etc.
15 :
Time to vote in a new unofficial leader, that is stupid to have people spend more time and gas when they could fly from their hometowns, that is why they have airports all over the world. Not to mention the adding risk and expense of driving during the holidays, doesn't she watch the news? Holiday driving is when most accidents occur due to drunk drivers leaving Office Parties, especially in that part of the country, so why endanger your loved ones?
16 :
That is the most controlling and ridiculous thing I have ever heard -- and very insensitive, too. Sorry, but if I had been involved with this plan, I would have done what would have been easier and less time consuming for me and my family. By the way, flying in from different cities isn't rude, but insisting on the ridiculous definitely is. Not polite and not logical at all. Happy New Year
17 :
why do you have a family leader? Everyone should be able to make up their own mind. Sometimes people like to drive for the scenery and to look at things. I guess it depends on that, but a leader should not be allowed to make up everyone's mind for them.
18 :
I make my own decisions.

should a flight from florida to N.Y. be cancelled on thursday

should a flight from florida to N.Y. be cancelled on thursday?
with the weather (blizzard) changes coming...i have a flight from Naples,Fl. to Baltimore to Rochester,N.Y. booked on thursday afternoon....should i cancell?
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Why would you want to cancel based on a forecast? And if you do cancel, unless you purchased a full fare ticket (highly doubtful) you'll lose your money. The best you can hope for is credit (minus fees) towards a future flight. Unless you know something everyone else doesn't, I would wait until the airlines cancel or delay the flight.
2 :
If you cancel, you will have to pay a cancellation fee. Let the airline decide whether or not the flight will happen or not.
3 :
In addition to what other people are saying, there isnt a blizzard in any of those cities- just some strong wind, rain, and some cold temperatures which may cause delays but nothing more than that.
4 :
I agree with the others on here. Don't cancel based on a forecast. But in addition to their advice, there are several other things you can do to assure you get where you're going. Start by watching the national weather forecasts. Airlines won't send a flight that can't make it to it's final destination if they have prior knowledge that it won't be able to land. It costs big bucks to divert a plane full of people. If the weather starts to look bad, call the airline. They may be be able to reroute you. If you wait until the weather is a problem then this won't cost you anything. If you change your ticket on your own, then you'll pay lots of penalties. I'd do this at least 2 hours before you leave for the airport. Reason is that they may need you to take an earlier flight. Which brings me to my next point. Again, if the weather is bad then call and ask if there's a flight that will get you there earlier, with seats available. Day of departure rules are much more lenient when bad weather is involved. You might also want to look up the flight schedule from BWI-ROC. It would be helpful to know what the alternatives are should your flight be canceled mid-sequence. Make sure you have the airlines' toll-free number with you, preferably programmed into your phone. At the first sign of any weather issues, call them. The early bird gets the worm here. If you're at the airport and they've just canceled a flight then every one of those passengers will be looking for re-booking. There are only so many alternatives. You'll probably be directed to wait in line to speak to an agent but the reservationist can often accommodate you much more quickly. Lastly, relax. IF, and it's a big IF there are weather problems, remember the airline has dealt with these kinds of things before. They'll get you there. Just might take a little longer than expected.

How far is the Baltimore Airport from Washington DC

How far is the Baltimore Airport from Washington DC?
Im going to visit my friend in DC soon and she said to try to book the flight to Reagan Airport , and to try to avoid Dulles and Baltimore, but if its a better deal to go for them. Well, Its sooo much cheaper to fly to Baltimore, but how would I get to DC? Is it relatively close? Also, how much will it cost to get there? Do they have shuttles? Should I just spend the $30 extra bucks to fly to Reagan or go with Baltimore?

BWI is about an hour away from DC by car, more if there is traffic. Using MARC or the metro bus shuttle would take at least 1.5 hrs. If the difference in price is only $30, I'd fly to DCA instead. It's so much easier.
2 :
I would spend the extra 30 dollars as you will probally end up spending the same getting from BWI to Downtown DC,here is all the info though The airport is approximately 8 miles south of Baltimore, Maryland and 35 miles north of Washington, D.C. Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Metro now offers BWI Express Metro bus service between BWI and the Greenbelt metro station. The service provides a direct connection between BWI and the Greenbelt Metro Station. The BWI Express/B30 service runs every 40 minutes, 7 days a week to the Greenbelt Metro Station, which is located on the Green Line of the Washington Metro System. Buses run 25 times each weekday and 21 times on Saturdays and Sunday, every 40 minutes. For more information call 202-637-7000 or go to www.wmata.com Catch the BWI Express from BWI Airport. There are two WMATA Bus Stops. One is located on the lower level of the International Concourse and the other stop is located on the lower level of Concourse A/B. The B30 will pick you up outside at the bus shelter. Follow the signs that say â€Å“Public Transit.” The Greenbelt Metro Station connects to Metro Stations throughout Washington, DC, Virginia, Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties. A route map and schedule is available now on Metro's website, www.wmata.com. In addition to the train service, there is frequent airport shuttle service to downtown Washington, D.C. and the surrounding areas. What is the cheapest way to get to and from Baltimore to JFK airport

What is the cheapest way to get to and from Baltimore to JFK airport?
I am in Baltimore and meeting up with a friend to go fly out of JFK airport. My flight leaves at 1030 am from JFK and I am returning to JFK at 12:45 am and need to know the best way to get to JFK by 9 am and the best way to get back to Baltimore when I return to JFK at 12:45 am. Both flights are on weekdays.

you need to arrive the night before unless you are planning on a connecting flight on the way in to New York.the last greyhound leaves Baltimore at 1020 and arrives 210 am On the way back there is a 345am greyhound bus from port authority for $10.00. If your plane is on time you should be able to get there by subway with time to spare.
3 :
If it were me, I would go up the night before and stay at one of the hotels near the airport that has a shuttle to the terminals. But if you want cheap, Megabus has a bus from Baltimore to NY that leaves at 12:55 AM and arrives at 4:40 AM. In NY the bus drops you at 7th Ave and 28th St. Although there is a subway station right there, I'd suggest walking to 8th Ave and 23rd St where you can catch the E train. Get a Metrocard for $14.50 (2x $2.25 subway fare, 2x $5 airport fare) and take the uptown/Queens E train. Stay on it for about 40 mins to the Sutphin Blvd/Jamaica station and take the Airtrain to your terminal. The subway and airtrain run all night. Going the other way, Megabus doesn't have a very convenient bus, but there's a $12 Greyhound at 3:45 AM at the Port Authority Bus terminal. Return the same way, but get off the E train at the bus terminal. Buy both bus tickets early online to get the best price, which can be as low as $1 on Megabus.

some people dont want drive also a lot of frequenetly fliers can earn points for flying they cant do that driving they might have bussines in the airport.
2 :
100 miles or 160 km is normally the "limit" where air travel begins to be useful. It makes no sense to have a flight that is 50 miles but somewhere near and above 100 miles, it does. Remember it will take you about 2 hours to drive 100 miles (depending on roads and traffic). A flight is only about 30 minutes.
3 :
just to add from other responses, that there also has to be a reasonable demand, and could well be in smaller aircraft.
4 :
People are sometimes in a rush, business-wise, emergencies, etc. BOS-JFK/EWR, 3.5 hours apart with driving, 30-40 minutes by flying. If your relative/sibling/parent suddenly needs help or a business opportunity that requires you to be in New York as soon as possible, what do you do? Take a flight. You can drive your way down to Brazil, why not do that then? Nobody would want to bother with paying car insurance where they aren't insured in. Cars can break down on highways more than planes breaking down in airports, delaying you more time, you may need to get more rest-stops. Or some people are so dog gone tired they rather fly. Be considerate and think of these reasons, not everything is so simple and cheap as driving.
5 :
Some people would rather fly because it gets you there quicker. Also sometimes airline flights between 2 cities are really cheap so it is almost worth it to pay for the plane ticket and earn frequent flier miles versus driving, paying for gas and accumulating miles on your car.
6 :
It is possible. Many don't want to drive or just wanna loose traffic and reach a lot faster.

What's the shortest commercial flight in which an airliner gets to reach full cruising altitude

What's the shortest commercial flight in which an airliner gets to reach full cruising altitude?
How many kilometers? Dulles to JFK? Baltimore to Boston? Does the slope of that flight look like a triangle, with a constant rate of climb, or a parabola, with the rate of climb slowly tapering off?

................... there is always optimum level for the distance ................. on full load it can take up to 125 miles to climb to optimum level and the not the top altitude ............... it has to do in steps ................. as it gets lighter ................... after burning fuel ...............
2 :
More like San Francisco to Reno, or Seattle to Portland. I guess JFK to BOS would do it too. But what Spaceman says is right. It's never a parabola. Short flights would tend to have a lighter fuel load too and you wouldn't get time to earn back the fuel you burn in the climb with a long cruise, so you won't be going above about 28-29,000 feet unless traffic dictates it, any more and you'd lose ground speed and in any case you'll be coming back down in a few minutes.
3 :
he flight will reach a cruising altitude for some time. they will use smaller aircraft that most likely goes slower than u think.

It happens, but I wouldn't say typical. Maybe they're selling out faster on the weekend too.
2 :
yes,and the sad thing is that most airlines consider week-ends to run from thursday to monday.
3 :
A lot depends on where you are flying, and also on where you are buying. Also, not clear: do you mean that the fares are higher for flights on the weekend? Or that the fares actrually jump up on Friday and back down on Monday no matter what date you want to fly? Many routes cost more on weekends because they are popular with family travellers, or vacationers. Business-heavy routes tend to be cheaper on weekends.

I live in Baltimore, and try some of the discount sites. British Airways is the cheapest way to go. They offer one flight a day from Heathrow to Baltimore. Go to www.cheapoair.com. Try Icelandair from Baltimore to Glasgow, via Iceland. You can also try Continental Airlines and US Airways who fly direct from the USA to Glasgow. BTW, dont fly to Edinburgh. It will be much cheaper for you to fly to Glasgow International (GLA) as its a major airport, more flights, more seats = cheaper flights. http://flyglasgow.net/

To get the cheapest flights, check out BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites from one location, and save tons of money. Good luck!

How often do airlines add new flights

How often do airlines add new flights?
There is only one non-stop flight available for Baltimore to Las Vegas during the week I am looking for. If I do not book it now, and the flight fills up, do airlines typically add new flights? Do you know how often?

i believe they add new flight just after midnight from ppl who have canceled or stuff like that and also check on weekends and early in the mornings when there arent so many ppl lookin for fights late nite flights are also cheaper b/c there are less ppl flying then
2 :
Very rare. Airlines bid for 'slots' as busy airports can only take so many flights per day. So they have to arrange in advance with the aviation authorities to have extra flights. Especially from busy Baltimore where the flight departure times are tight. What MAY happen more commonly is that if they get a lot of bookings they upgrade the SIZE of the aircraft. So if the plane was a 737 holding 120 passengers they may change it to a 767 holding 220. Book early and get to the airport early.

Easiest way get to Washington DC and back from Baltimore Airport

Easiest way get to Washington DC and back from Baltimore Airport?
I am traveling to DC for 1 day. I am landing at Baltimore airport at 9:30 in the morning and have an appointment in DC at 1:00pm with a return flight leaving at 8:30pm from Baltimore. Could someone tell me what are the best way to get back and forth is? I need to get to Massachusetts Ave which I was told is considered the NW area. Forgot to mention. It will be a Tuesday.

Go to the train station at the airport. Take the MARC train to Union Station in Washington. As to how to get to where you're going, Massachusetts Ave. NW is a pretty long street covering a number of miles. Go to www.wmata.com. Enter Union Station as your starting point. Enter the address for your ending point. The website will give you the choice of rail and bus to get you to your destination.
2 :
Just enter the information in the below URL and you can go to and from the Airport to your actual appointment. The express bus from the Airport to Greenbelt has gone up to $6.00. But the website will give you the entire cost. You might want to compare it with MARC. This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America. Please pick a "Best Answer", even if it is not mine. That way we can tell if we really do help people.
3 :
Take the bus. The B30. I took it myself this past March. Have some $1 bills ready. The bus will take you along the Baltimore-Washington Expressway into Greenbelt Station. Hop the Metro into DC and ask about Massachusetts Avenue. You're also good for all the area attractions. One thing about the Metro is that its good to read and maps while on the train, because the stations are so dark that you couldn't find a coin if it dropped in front of you. (DC Metro stations are designed that way. They look like a concert hall or theater.) Follow this link: http://www.bwiairport.com/en/travel/ground-transportation/trans/mta
4 :
MARC or Amtrak to Union Station. There's a shuttle bus that runs between the airport and train station. All you have to do is take the shuttle and take a train. If taking MARC, you'll want to check their schedule as they don't run in all directions all the time (their schedule can be pretty limited) and they also don't run on weekends. If taking Amtrak, you may wish to buy a ticket in advance. Amtrak's website: http://www.amtrak.com MARC's website: http://mta.maryland.gov/services/marc/?PHPSESSID=de19a79e532ea8b09f46fdf71867fb77 Union Station is on Massachusetts Avenue. Technically it's at 50 Massachusetts Avenue NE. You may be able to walk to your destination or it may be too far. Use Google Maps to get directions. You can also either take the bus, metro, taxi, or walk. Metro's website (metro and bus): http://www.wmata.com
5 :
Your first choice should be the Marc train. It will take you to union station which on Mass Ave. The shuttle from the airport will take you to the train station where you can catch the marc train. If you are coming during the weekend the Marc does not run so your best option would be the B30 bus to greenbelt. From there hop on the metro. Mass ave is very long and not walkable. Check metro's website to see exactly where you need to go.

TSA Passenger ID Check at BWI Airport

TSA Passenger ID Check at BWI Airport?
It is easy to go to an airline site and find out what passenger ID is accepted by the airline. However, BWI passenger ID checks are now done by TSA, and I cannot find a URL that lists everything they will and will not accept. My Iraqi friend's passport series has been cancelled, and he has not yet been able to get a new passport from Baghdad. Because of this, he also does not have a US driver's licence. He has an Iraqi drivers's license and a US college ID, along with his old I-20 and student visa (in the old passport). He has an application for asylum and a credit card. What else will the TSA folks view as credible ID so he can accompany my on a flight between Baltimore and Boise?

Are any of those photo IDs? That's what he needs. They match the picture with the info on the card and on his ticket.
2 :
BWI isnt the only place where ID checks are done by TSA. TSA does ID checks at every airport in the US. Credit card and asylum application will not work. Your friend should bring his college ID, student visa and his drivers license.

4 Hour layover in BWI (Baltimore Maryland) what to do?
We have a 4 hour layover in Baltimore Maryland. Our flight gets in at 11:50 and leaves at 3:50. Is there anything we could do or go see to kill time without missing our flight?

BWI has become one of my favorite layover airports! There are some great restaurants there, and you're arriving just in time for a leisurely lunch!

I fly out of BWI quite frequently, and to be frank, there isn't much excitement. What I can recommend is going to Concourse E, which is the international terminal. It has a lot of models and such, and is very nice. I highly recommend it. You know just look at the planes and walk the airport. Get a massage (yes, they have some cheap massages), etc. There really is no form of entertainment at the airport. Have a great trip!

most likely not...unless there are some type of delays due to the airline. for weather delays i am not sure they will get you a hotel, i would call and ask. but unless there are no more flight for the night that can get you to bwi, only then will they get you a hotel
2 :
They will not bump you just because you ask, The only chance you have of being bumped is if the flight is oversold and they need volunteers to give up their seat. Only then would they give you a hotel vocher and that is ONLY if there is no room on the next available flight to Baltimore or there is not another scheduled flight out to Baltimore that day. If your ticket was by chance booked using miles, call CO and speak to an agent because the rules are a bit different and you may be able to stay in Houston for up to 48 hours, no charge. They will not pay for hotel though. Good Luck! :)
3 :
Ask to be bummped?? Why?? you can ask all you want, but unless the flight is overrsold, then no. If the flight is oversold, then they will put you out on the next available flight (and unless you are on the last flight of the day, they won't pay to put you up overnight.) What you can expect is for them to get you to your final destination exactly as your itinerary states...that is, after all, what their goal is. If you had wanted to spend the night in Houston, then you should have purchased your ticket that way. You can't expect the airline to pay for your holiday in Houston if the flight is on-time and not oversold. If you ARE on the last flight of the day, AND it's oversold, then, yes, Continental will compensate you with a travel voucher and hotel accommodations of their choosing. You would then be put on the next AVAILABLE flight to Baltimore the next morning.

Baltimore Maryland's Inner Harbor, Cheap Hotel within Walking Distance

Baltimore Maryland's Inner Harbor, Cheap Hotel within Walking Distance.?
Flights to Baltimore are really cheap and I thought it would be a nice get away to visit the Inner Harbor which seems really popular this coming Sept for my Anniversary. Only problem is, every hotel within the Inner Habor is soooo expensive. The cheapest I could find was $175.00 per night. Do any locals know of any other places that are in that area that are cheaper? Walking distance is a must seeing I won't be renting a car. Thanks!!

Any hotel that's right on the harbor will be very expensive. Check Hotels.com/Expedia.com and look for hotels within a 3 to 4 block radius. You'll save money and it really is an easy walk to the harbor. There is good public transportation, too, with both bus and light rail service available. The cab service in Charm City is moderately priced and very reliable. In addition, most hotels will provide very good information about taking public transit wherever you want to go. Plan your trip for a weekend, when rates are lower, and be sure to see Fort McHenry, the Baltimore Zoo and the Train Museum, as well as the National Aquarium and Maryland Science Museum, and don't miss the Walters Art Gallery. An insider's tip....the Aquarium is very uncrowded on Friday night and you can even arrange for a personal tour. The weather in September is gorgeous! Be sure to take a water taxi across the harbor to Fells Point for bar-hopping and a romantic dinner. M & S Grill at the harbor is very good and Phillips is a Maryland tradition. Obricke's, however, really does have the best crabcakes in town. Any town.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

How should I plan a ski trip to Vail, CO

How should I plan a ski trip to Vail, CO?
I desperately want to ski Vail for the last week it's open (April 8-15) but I want to spend no more than $3500 dollars. My group has three adults and one child (who skis free). I want a five-day ticket for one adult and a child, a rental car, a flight from Baltimore, MD, and lodging close to the slopes. Any recommendations? Also, if you wish, I would like to know from a Vail veteran where the best places to hit would be. We can ski any terrain, but don't prefer steeps. Thank you in advance for any answers!
