What are the requirements to travel to the United States with a shih tzu

What are the requirements to travel to the United States with a shih tzu?
Hi, I'd like to know the requirements to travel with a shih tzu dog to the United States, like what kind of papers required, kennel requirements, suggested amount of total cost etc. (anything at all I need to know). I just want to know what I am going to put myself through if I ever need to travel with my dog. The flight is a 3 hour long flight (Jamaica to Baltimore). And I know that some airplanes do not accept carrying pets at all, but the ones that do, where do they put the pets? Thank You

all vet records. owner papers food and water, bed, leash collar, tag with number in case lost. airline approved carrier if flying. they can let you take in cabin with you if approved in advance otherwise luggage hold. cost start at $300 and add up

Jamaica is one of those countries that may require a 6 month quarantine or similar arrangements. I'm going to spend 5 minutes and see if I can find anything further. BRB Bringing an Animal into the United States Importation of dogsA general certificate of health is not required by CDC for entry of pet dogs into the United States, although some airlines or states may require them. However, pet dogs are subject to inspection at ports of entry and may be denied entry into the United States if they have evidence of an infectious disease that can be transmitted to humans. If a dog appears to be ill, further examination by a licensed veterinarian at the owner's expense might be required at the port of entry. Proof of Rabies Vaccination: Dogs must have a certificate showing they have been vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry into the United States. These requirements apply equally to service animals such as Seeing Eye dogs. Importation of Unvaccinated Dogs: Dogs not accompanied by proof of rabies vaccination, including those that are too young to be vaccinated (i.e. less than 3 months of age), may be admitted if the importer completes a confinement agreement (see below) and confines the animal until it is considered adequately vaccinated against rabies (the vaccine is not considered effective until 30 days after the date of vaccination). Spanish, French, and Russian translations of form CDC 75.37 are available, but must be completed in English. Puppies that are too young to be vaccinated (i.e. less than 3 months of age) must be kept in confinement until they are old enough to be vaccinated, and then confined for at least 30 days after the date of vaccination. Unvaccinated dogs must be vaccinated within 4 days of arrival at their final U.S. destination and within 10 days of entry into the United States, and must be kept in confinement for at least 30 days after the date of vaccination. Dogs may not be sold or transferred to other owners during this period of confinement, and the person that signs the confinement agreement is responsible for ensuring the conditions of the agreement are met. Importers must provide a contact address where the dog will be kept during the confinement period. If the importer will be housing the dog at several addresses or traveling with the animal, all points of contact must be provided. Whats the cheapest way to get from Downtown Baltimore to Dulles (IAD) airport within 2 hours

Whats the cheapest way to get from Downtown Baltimore to Dulles (IAD) airport within 2 hours?
I need to catch a flight out of Dulles and dont want to spend $100+ on a taxi. Is it possible to take the MARC train to DC and then catch a taxi from there? are there even taxis outside of union station to hail? supershuttle? thanks

2 hours from Baltimore to Dulles? Good freaking luck. Unless you plan on going at 2:15 in the morning on a Wed, and thats still a reach. Out of Baltimore, around 695, down 95, around 495, over the American Legion bridge and down Dulles access? Again, fat chance. Call a friend and offer to pay for his gas and a case of beer.

{EDIT} I misread the question thinking that you were going from Dulles to Baltimore - basically take my answer and reverse all the steps but you're not going to make it in under 2 hours from Penn Station to Dulles. I hope your Dulles flight is over 2 hours late because that is the only chance you have with public or private transportation. Maybe a Baltimore City cabbie can take you to Dulles - but not for less than $75. {/EDIT} Your only bet is the B-5 bus from Dulles to the Orange Line (Rosslyn Station) to the Red Line (Metrocenter Station) to the MARC Train at Union Station. If you're lucky and time all the connections correctly, you could make it in a little over 2 hours - not including travel time from Penn Station to your destination in Baltimore. The good news is that the total fare will not be more than $15.

I have 2 ideas. The easy way is to find a friend with a car, and offer him $50 to drive you to Dulles. Unless you're going in rush hour, you can make that in an hour, or maybe a little more. Piece of cake. Second way is MARC to DC Union station, then Metro (red line) to Metro Center, change to orange line to Vienna. Get off at West Falls Church, and catch the express bus to Dulles. Yes, there are plenty of taxis at Union station.

Good Luck. Maps have it at an hour, but take that and at least double it because of the traffic on beltway. When are you travelling? If it's before 10 am or after 3 pm on a weekday forget it!

How have flights been (considering the weather) the last few days

How have flights been (considering the weather) the last few days?
I really dislike flying b/c I'm very nervous of turbulence. I'm takng a national flight tomorrow morning from CA, stopping in Chicago, onto Baltimore. I know a lottt of people have been flying thanks to school break/Xmas...considering the rain/snow? how have the in-flight experiences been compared to less questionable weather? ((also any rips on my turbulence anxiety would be awesome ^_^)) Thanks =)

The fog is supposed to let up. As for whether or not it will be canceled or delayed: toss a coin. If it's heads, the odds are still 50/50 for all anybody here knows.

I have a great Idea why not call the aiilrine involed they would know a lot better then we would! here we can only guesss also why didnt the airline put yoou on another flight thats what they are *supposed* to if a flight is cancelled) not tell go home and wait until tomorrow!
3 :
possibly. check your weather forecast to determine whether or not you should get a hotel just to be more comfortable.
4 :
There is no telling. The fog has let up, but the area is going to have storms. Keep your fingers crossed...and good luck!
5 :
why are you asking on a UK site?

I live near Baltimore and it isn't bad. It has already passed. Go to the airline's website. Are you flying with Midwest Airlines?
