I am travelling by Amtrak on 15th from Baltimore Penn Station to Newark NJ Internation Airport Station.?
I am travelling by Amtrak on 15th from Baltimore Penn Station to Newark NJ Internation Airport Station to catch an international flight at 6:30pm. Train starts at 1:47pm and is supposed to reach Newark Station at 4:06pm. I am a bit worried whether the train would reach in time. Is Amtrak dependable? Is Newark station close to the airport? I have heard that there is a monorail service which takes inside the airport terminal. Is there anybody who has done this journey and can speak out the facts? I will have some luggage with me like two big suitcases.

Amtrak is very dependable but as far as i know the monorail does not go from the penn station to the airport. the monorail only goes around the airport terminals its self, long tern parking and Secaucus Junction. you could get a cab from penn station to the airport but it will cost you. check if the train can let you off at Secaucus Junction and from there you can transfer to the airport on the monorail. if not, once at penn station newark take the new jersey transit train to Secaucus Junction to get to newark airport.

Given that ONLY NJ Transit trains stop at the Newark Liberty Airport station, you'd have to transfer at Newark Penn Station to go back one stop. This means you'd be cutting it close time-wise for your flight (why aren't you flying out of BWI?). Amtrak is reliable on the Northeast Corridor (NEC), and NJ Transit generally is, but as I said, you're leaving NO margins for errors, delays, etc. If there are indeed NO flights out of BWI, which would be closer, and EWR is your only option, your best bet would be to take an earlier Amtrak train to give you the necessary breathing room in case of unexpected delays that may arise, and which could cause you to miss your flight. As for the monorail, it does run from the NEC station, to connect long-term parking lots and the three terminals; this service was incorporated into the airport design, so it could be included at a future date, which came about 12-13 years ago.

Northeast Regional train 186 arrives at 4:06pm at Newark Liberty International Airport station, where you'd be connecting to the monorail to your terminal. Contrary to what others have said, about 20 weekday and 32 weekend Amtrak trains stop the airport station.
