Is it possible to fly from the US or Canada to Greenland?
I'm trying to find a flight to Nuuk, Greenland for the Summer but from what I read AirGreenland discontinued it's service from Baltimore, Maryland. How would one fly from the US or Canada to Nuuk, Greenland?

Indirect -- you have to go from Iceland

Icelandair?

There used to be a flight between Iqaluit,Nunavut Territory,Canada (which you can fly direct to Montreal from)and Nuuk but it was done away with a few years back-there has been pressure to re-establish an air link as the native residents of both areas are "culturally linked"-(and only an hour and a half apart by air)otherwise it looks like a long trip through Copenhagen or maybe Reykjavik(The cost of flights to Reykjavik from North America tend to be sky-high;no pun intended-I looked into this last year as I was considering a fishing trip there). The service from Iqaluit to Nuuk was tentatively scheduled to restart in June 2010 but Air Greenland pulled the plug on the idea-maybe keep an eye on that ...there are small Canadian operators and charter companies that haul cargo between the two (Iqaluit & Nuuk) but I don't know if they accept passengers at all.

What time to arrive at airport
What time to arrive at airport?
On March 27, I will be traveling from Chicago Midway, IL to Baltimore Washington, MD. The departure time is 9:15 AM. What time should I leave home and arrive at the airport so I won't be late for the flight and be able to do the check-in. And, any tips on using an eTicket? I will go on Southwest Airlines. I live about 30-45 minutes away from the airport.

The basic rule of thumb is to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance. That way you can get checked in and through the security line.
2 :
We don't know how far away you live from the airport. That is kind of important, but just get there 90 minutes before the flight leaves. That would be 7:45. Just go to the check-in counter for the airline you are flying on.
3 :
I agree with 2 hours, but lets say be there, if you are driving, 2 hours ahead, so by the time you get parked and go inside it would be around 730am, that should be good enough.
4 :
Try to be at the airport by: 7:15 - 7:30 AM / 24 Hours before your flight, go to your airline website and you can print your boarding pass ahead of time.

Fly out from bigger airports. I always have to connect as well. It's par for the course for me, because I don't live near one of the major airports like O'hare.
2 :
fly on jetblue airways non stop to every destination but i dont no if they fly out of baltimore. it also depends on were your going
3 :
where are you going ? you dont say its just possible you are going between some cities that doest have much demand for a direct or nonstop stop service or the airline you are using has a hub someone in between (Like American) however there are direct or nonstop[ flight from major cities (like Phoenix to Baltimore etc I used to like nonstops but i found i like connections sometimes yes it makes the trip a big longer but it also gives you a chance to strech your legs as well..
4 :
If you fly to places that are hubs (PHL, JFK, ATL. ATL, ORD, CLT, PIT, DFW, DTW, MSP, etc.) you will not have to make connections. To other places, you will. That is the nature of flying out of a non-hub airport.
5 :
It really depends on where you fly to as well. If you fly to Chicago, there are non stop flights. Southwest has a lot of flights out of BWI and depending on where you are going, you may have to make a connection somewhere. If you want more non stop flights, you may have to go to Philadelphia or Washington Dulles.

Southwest Airline's Per Flight Profit
Southwest Airline's Per Flight Profit.....?
Is this a reasonable profit? Is this a good way to determine it? Southwest fly's 737-700 with a 3,300 mile range. It is roughly 2,500 miles to Baltimore from Phoenix. That means that out of the 6,875 gallon fuel capacity, that flight would roughly use 80% of that, or 5,550 gallons of Jet fuel. The cost is calculated for 5,550 gallons is at the current $4.50 per gallon rate at the Phoenix airport. So that flight costs $25,000 in fuel. Let's add an additional $5,000 in the free drinks, and the salary of the behind the scenes people. So that flight costs $30,000. Now the airfare one way, nonstop is $400 for a normal seat, booking in December. That means assuming the aircraft is relatively full, they make $48,000. So their profit is $18,000. Does this seem like right calculations? If this is right, the return flight would only profit $10,000 because Jet Fuel in Baltimore costs nearly $6 a gallon. I saw a show on the news about American Airlines. This shows how bad they are in the hole, the flight that the news people followed, only profited $200. Their exact words were, "One less person, this flight would have been in the reds"

Its about $100 per flight. You forgot to pay your cabin crew and you forgot to pay for the lease on the airplane. Plus, as an airplane owner I can tell you that you usually estimate the cost of maintenance to be double the cost of fuel. In 2008 SouthWest earned $178 million (about .24 cents per diluted share). According to their web site they fly 3300 flights per day so that would be 1.2 million flights per year. So that comes out to an average earning of about $150 per flight on average. This is true; margines in airlines are very, very, very slim.

A huge reason why Southwest is doing well is the fact that they locked in a fuel price many years ago when it started to go up and the other airlines thought it was too expensive to lock in. Not sure exactly what they pay for it, but they aren't paying the rate the FBO sells it for.

Your not allowed to use electronic devices on take off or landing, as for during I'm not sure, some let you, some don't. Do not worry about flying, it's the safest way of getting from A-B even after 9/11. The odds of dying in a plane crash are 1 in 391,000, while the odds of dying in a car crash are 1 in 6,200 so you are 63 times safer in a plane than in a car.
2 :
Calm down, Jedi - neither the government, the airline, or your mom and dad would let you go flying if it wasn't safe! And the pilot and crew wouldn't go if they were concerned! As to all That paraphernalia you are considering taking on board - I would suggest not to. It differs from airline to airline, but you may not Be allowed to operate any of that equipment while the airplane is in flight - for safety reasons - which you're very concerned about, right? Instead, bring a good book. The airline will probably have ear phones for you to listen to music over. Then just read, relax, and enjoy the flight! Remember, many hundreds of thousands of people fly every day all over the world without any incidents. flying is absolutely the safest way for you to get to Baltimore. Much safer, for example, than driving. Probably why your parents are taking the plane! Have a fun flight!
3 :
Just calm down, relax, everything is alright............... OMG what the hell is that! Its tie fighters coming from the rear! But seriously relax the chances of an aircraft your flying on getting hijacked is probably the same as before 9/11. I'm not sure but the electronic toys and equipment you bring out during the flight will vary depending on the airline, type of airplane, the time, and the condition the airplane is in. Oh and remember JEDI HAVE NO FEAR. Also if you see any middle eastern looking people don't act stupid or very worried in front of them because they might feel offended or think your stereotyping them.

Calm down... Take a Valium.

i work for NWA airlines and as far as electronic devices are concerned you may use a laptop after takeoff. a CD player is allowed as well as the Nintendo if you play it muted. a talking plush toy will cause no problems for anyone, (unless you make it talk all the time). as far as the light saber goes it's kinda bulky and will take up much space you would be best to put it with checked baggage. you are only allowed 2 bags of carry on luggage and since your not 5 that is alot of toy stuff to take onboard with you. and if your such a big star wars fanatic why are you asking people to tell you all about star wars.
6 :
You need advice, not advise - Your advice is simply "chill out!" How many flights have gone wrong since 9/11? How many before? Out of hundreds of thousands worldwide each day how many have you heard of going wrong? Enjoy it, look out of the window and just appreciate the views. No need to get paranoid over something that won't happen. You're more at risk driving to the airport!
